One of the night time photographs I took on my travels to Malaysia last month.
Still round the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate... (J.R.R. Tolkien)
I would like to give my thanks to everyone who has supported me online this past year in my adventure in photography. I hope to create some great images in the New Year and continue my ongoing development as a photographer and 'image-maker'.
I wish you all an inspiring and creative year and keep in mind that "life is one big road full of signs. So when you're riding through the ruts, don't complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don';t bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake up and live!"
(Bob Marley)
Have a great 2017!
From a short series of portraits of people I met on a train during my travels on Sri Lanka.

I have returned from my travels to Sri Lanka. This is one of the shots I took there I would like to share with you. I took it on the walls of the fort of Galle, an ancient town on the South coast which dates back to the VOC-era. (The light in the tower is a flash I placed there....)
One of the photographs I took in the cottonfields in China for the Dutch fairtrade NGO Solidaridad on their website: www.solidaridad.nl
I just returned from the small town of Castillon la Bataille near Bordeaux, France, where I gave a photography course. The course went fantastically, so chances are I will give another course there perhaps next year.
This is one of the photographs I took wandering through the deserted backstreets of the town.
The public library of Tromsø, Norway during the 'blue hour'.
The Arctic Church (Ishavskatedralen ) of Tromsø, officially named Tromsdalen Church is a masterpiece of form and light. I've heard say the most northern cathedral in the world and definitely worth a visit.
The church was built in 1969 and has a beautiful view over the Tromsø sound and the town of Tromsø.
This is the western side of the cathedral with its' organ.
Stunning beauty in all its' simplicity.
Short days, long nights in the arctic winter. This is a sundown sky when I was there last week.
A jetty in Norway waiting for summer.
This is a long exposure taken somewhere outside the city of Tromsø, Norway.

In the state our home, the world, planet earth, is in at the moment, it is a mesmerizing experience to stand outside in the dark on a snow covered field above the arctic circle and gaze up at the powerful show of northern lights. It seems as if the world is on fire without making a sound. The aurora borealis as I saw it in Tromsø, Norway.
Last week I went to London for a few days to see my good friend David Headley who owns Goldsboro Books in Cecil Court. I had four of my photographs with me which are now on exhibition there.
During one of our evening outings, walking Davids' dog Mia, I took my camera along and decided to take some long exposure with deliberate movement. This is one of the nice photographs that came out of this.
The question is: is this tree being washed away or washed ashore?
On the island of Gili Meno, Indonesia, there is a short stretch of beach where a dozen or so trees seem to be clinging on to life not being able to choose between land or sea. Taking a long exposure results in milky sea and blurred movement of the leaves and branches.
I am not usually one for posting my pictures of sunsets. Cliché, cliché. Exceptions confirm the rule, so here is a sunset over the Gili islands, Indonesia. The Gili islands are a group of tiny islands (you can walk around them over the beach in about 1,5 hours.) just off the west coast of the island of Lombok, Indonesia. Two of the Gili islands have developed into a regular Ibiza party-island counterpart. The island stuck in the middle, Gili Meno, from which I took this picture, is still relatively quiet and peaceful.
A perfect spot on Bali for a break. What is there not to like here?
A view on jungle vegatation on the island of Bali.
