Sitting, waiting, fishing (II)

Another picture on the theme "Sitting, waiting, fishing". Another long exposure.

On the lake of Danau Beratan, Bali, there is quite some fishing going on. Fishermen not only go out on to the lake in small boats, or fish from jetties (see my previous post), some have also built makeshift seats a few meters from the waters edge like this one. Fish caught is sold at the market just up the road or eaten for dinner.

Sunday stroll

This is streetphotography as I like it: when everything falls in to their right place in a picture.

A sunny day in Venice, Italy. It had rained the night before, but the street is slowly drying in the winter sun. I was concentrating on a nice composition of the shadow the lamp post made along the street and over the wall. When along came 'the missing link' and in an instant I knew I needed to have the man in the picture too. I got one shot to get the picture right.....

Usually I am not for pictures where 'the horizon' is not straight, but here I think it adds to the image with all the other lines, straight and angled, playing their part in the whole.

Rock the boat

A lonesome gondola waiting for the tourist-season. No cars in the city of Venice, Italy. The boat is the way to go. Or your feet.

In the month of January the city is quite calm and quite devoid of tourists. Temperatures are low, however above freezing mostly. And foggy conditions are possible. In other words wonderful weather conditions for interesting photography. On top of that prices are low too. Prices are already on the rise at the moment as the city is 'waking up'. Reasons for me to offer a two-day photography workshop in Venice in the winter 2015/16. Check out my webpage for more information.

Venice, Italy, like you've never seen before, I suppose.

One of the advantages of getting up before dawn in Venice; getting wonderful pictures breathing peace and tranquility out in the lagoon surrounding the city. The other advantage is the sublime soft light of dawn. This is another image in a series of abstracts I made during an intensive four days photography-trip to Venice, Italy.

This image is, as are my previous posts, of fishing nets resting on a construction of poles standing in the middle of the lagoon that surrounds Venice. A perfect subject for a long exposure.

Interested in buying an original print of my work? Many of my images are available. Every image is printed on high-quality paper by a professional company, will be signed by Jos Kuklewski and numbered. If you want a quote of the price, send an email to jos@jkimages.nl

Venice like you've never seen before, I suppose.

A second image in a series of abstracts I made during an intensive four days photography-trip to Venice, Italy. An amazing, amazing city with loads of (obvious) photo-opportunities, but also loads of unconventional ways of depicting this ancient city and its surroundings.

Venice like you've never seen before, I suppose.

I have just returned from four days of photography in Venice, Italy. I love my job. It takes me to the most wonderful places and I get to meet the most amazing people. And I am lucky to get the opportunity to go to Venice  for work. Four days of intense  photography in perhaps my favorite city in the world.
