A ship run aground just outside the harbour of El Jadida, Morocco. The wreck has been left to the will of the waves and can be seen from the shoreline just north of the town. Long exposure at sundown.

One of the places to visit on my journey through Morocco was the coastal town of El Essaouira with its wonderful medina and ancient Portuguese fort. Just outside the walls of the medina the waves of the Atlantic bash at the most wonderful rock-formations. The waves were quite fierce at this point but going outside the defensive walls on the rocks for some long exposure shots was absolutely worth the risk.
This is a 30 second exposure using an 10-stop ND filter. (For those not 'in the know': this filter blocks a lot of light making long exposures in the daytime possible.)
This picture, as many of my other pictures, is available in print. If you are interested, you may send me a message
Actor Daan van Bendegem throws a party. For himself. And his 12-year-old self.
I was asked to take pictures at the dress rehearsal yesterday evening. The play can be seen at the HKU Theatre in Utrecht on 17, 18 and 19 december. Tickets free.

I am just back from travelling through Marrocco for a week. One of the places to visit was the coastal town of El Essaouira with its wonderful medina and ancient Portuguese fort. Just outside the walls of the medina the waves of the Atlantic bash at the most wonderful rock-formations. This is one of the results.
I managed to keep myself and my gear dry, although at one point I had only just left a spot where seconds later a massive wave hit the rocks......
A portrait of my good friend Marelo using only natural daylight.
An intense portrait I did of my good friend Marelo.
I have been very busy recently. Which is a good sign. This is the reason why there haven't been many new posts on my blog/facebookpage.
But not to worry: I have some new cool things cooking on the fire. I am working on several photography ideas and photoshoots at the same time.
So for the moment I still have a nice image I made earlier this year with model Revka, hairstylist Angelo Giannaula and make-up-artist Felicia Williams.
An architectural image, for a change.
A quiet seat with a sea view. Overlooking the sea and beach of a beachresort town in northern Italy, this structure makes a wonderful play with lines. In the high resolution version of this picture you can spot a buoy far out in the sea and on the horizon the silhouette of a boat.
As a follow up to my previous post: more Retrogade
This a picture of the statue "Boy with frog" by Charles Ray. This statue stood for four years at the tip of the Punta della Dogana in Venice, Italy and was removed some months ago. It is considered by some as a controversial piece of art as it depicts a naked young boy holding a frog upside down by one of its legs. Controversial because naked? Controversial because animal cruelty? Controversial because modern?
This is a preview to one of the projects I am currently working on. I am not sure where this is going yet and not even sure it's something I will pursue. But it's there on the side-line and it's hell of a lot of fun to do and has already given me some quite cool new images.
Basically I would say that I take a beautiful picture and make it a mess...... Some would call that art....
The view from my hotel room (i.e. cubicle) when I was in Hong Kong for a few days after finishing a photography assignment in China some time ago.
A fascinating city, to say the least. And a brilliant place to roam about, to soak in the atmosphere and do street- and archtectural photography.
This shot was actually taken with my smartphone pressed flat against the window of my room.
One of the things I enjoy most of my work is that I am always "looking for the light". Composition and subject apart, this is one of the nicest things to do: finding a great spot where the light can really work magic on your subject.....
Today I transferred my website to Squarespace. What a breeze! After spending hours and hours (correction: days and days!) on building my previous website from scratch with Joomla, this is quite something else. I don´t use the word very often, but this is quite awesome!
I have browsed through the possibilities for a week or two and today finally decided to go ahead with the transfer. Within about 1 hour after signing on for the contract and making my payment, I already had the website up and running. Including the first basic content.
Of course there is still finetuning to be done, but I couldn´t be more happy with the way it looks at the moment and the ease with which I could build it.
I hope you enjoy it!!!
