What's up? (The cistern: II)

Solitary confinement in an ancient cistern where the floor is covered with a layer of water can play tricks on your mind.......

Another image from this magnificent building in the old part of El Jadida, Morocco.

This picture, as many of my other pictures, is available in print. If you are interested, you may send me a message

The cistern

In the heart of the old fort of El Jadida, Morocco is an ancient building erected by the Portuguese in the 16th century. Originally designed as an arsenal, it was later converted into a cistern. Today a  thin layer of water is maintained on the floor of the cistern to create the wonderful reflections and play of light.

Check out the detail of this image below.....

Harsh coast III

See my previous "Harsh coast"-posts.

One of the places to visit on my journey through Morocco was the coastal town of El Essaouira with its wonderful medina and ancient Portuguese fort. Just outside the walls of the medina the waves of the Atlantic bash at the most wonderful rock-formations. The waves were quite fierce at this point but going outside the defensive walls on the rocks for some long exposure shots was absolutely worth the risk.

This is a 30 second exposure using an 10-stop ND filter. (For those not 'in the know': this filter blocks a lot of light making long exposures in the daytime possible.)

Harsh coast (II)

One of the pictures I took last week on the rocks outside the citywalls of El Essaouira in Morocco. (See my previous post.)

Harsh coast

I am just back from travelling through Marrocco for a week. One of the places to visit was the coastal town of El Essaouira with its wonderful medina and ancient Portuguese fort. Just outside the walls of the medina the waves of the Atlantic bash at the most wonderful rock-formations. The waves were quite fierce at this point but going outside the defensive walls on the rocks for some long exposure shots was absolutely worth the risk.

This is one of the results.

I managed to keep myself and my gear dry, although at one point I had only just left a spot where seconds later a massive wave hit the rocks......
