Portrait time! Yesterday I took some portraits of Dutch actor Yari van der Linden.
Still round the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate... (J.R.R. Tolkien)
I would like to give my thanks to everyone who has supported me online this past year in my adventure in photography. I hope to create some great images in the New Year and continue my ongoing development as a photographer and 'image-maker'.
I wish you all an inspiring and creative year and keep in mind that "life is one big road full of signs. So when you're riding through the ruts, don't complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don';t bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake up and live!"
(Bob Marley)
Have a great 2017!
An on-the-go portrait of Laurens shot during a reception.
This week I did some casting-photography for actor Lars Brinkman. This is one of the shots that fell out of the selection, but I like a lot.
Meet Prasanna. This is Asanka's brother whom I met during my trip to Sri Lanka last month. (See previous post).
Asanka runs a small cafe/restaurant/guesthouse just outside Ella, Sri Lanka together with his father and brother. He is a joyful, energetic, bubbly character and I couldn't resist asking to take his portrait. It turns out Asanka is becoming a quite well known person among travellers to Ella. Try Googling "Asanka" and "Ella" and you will see what I mean.

A four minute exposure of a dead tree on the shore of southern Sri Lanka.
A 5,5 minute long exposure on a beach in the South of Sri Lanka.
I have returned from my travels to Sri Lanka. This is one of the shots I took there I would like to share with you. I took it on the walls of the fort of Galle, an ancient town on the South coast which dates back to the VOC-era. (The light in the tower is a flash I placed there....)
It has been a long time since I did some architectural photography. Today was a brilliant day to do some photographs of these buildings on the border of the Gooimeer in Huizen, Netherlands. The weather was deadcalm and there was a bright sun in the southern sky. To make the water even smoother and to 'get rid of' the ducks and geese bobbing around on the water, I did a very long exposure of around 4 minutes using a ND-filter to let the light slowly seep into the camera-lens.
The only photoshop here is some slight sharpening of the architecture and removal of two dust spots.
Like many of my photographs this image is available in print. For information on any work, drop me a line at jos@jkimages.nl
Halloween is around the corner. An intense and scary photograph I took together with model Kees.
One of the photographs I took in the cottonfields in China for the Dutch fairtrade NGO Solidaridad on their website: www.solidaridad.nl
Today I did a portrait photoshoot with Kees Oldenburg.
I have not been posting a lot on my blog (i.e. on facebook) lately; I have been very busy with assignments for a couple of weeks.
Just to let you know that I am still at it: taking great photographs for my clients.
Here is a shot I took during a graduation ceremony in Utrecht.
